YOUTH WORKER SELECTION CRITERIA
As part of your application you must include a cover letter of no more than two (2) pages which summarises your abilities, knowledge, personal qualities and experience within the context of this role. Your responses should take into account the selection criteria noted below.
- Relevant qualifications in youth work and/or knowledge and experience in working with young people with high and complex needs and behaviours, preferably in a residential and/or crisis accommodation context.
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission, vision and values of Anglicare North Queensland Limited.
- An applied understanding of, or the ability to acquire an understanding of:
- Professional boundaries
- Non-violent crisis intervention
- Suicide prevention and intervention
- Substance misuse and harm minimisation
- Strengths-based approach to youth work.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and proactively in a collaborative team which facilitates consistency, routine, support and structure.
- Well developed communication, rapport building and interpersonal skills to respectfully, sensitively and appropriately interact with people from culturally diverse groups.
- Sound written skills, the ability to record objective and factual case notes, and demonstrated computer literacy skills.
- Possession of or the ability to acquire a Blue Card and a willingness to undertake a criminal history check.
- Current first aid and CPR certificates or the ability to acquire.
- Current driver’s license.
